Sougat Paul studied fashion at the prestigious National Institute of Fashion Technology (NFIT) Kolkatta, and later worked as a stylist in Mumbai. Gaining experience through working for several brands, he then established SOUP in 2011. SOUP is an acronym for the designer, "SOUgat Paul". His designs debuted at the Lakme Fashion Week which is among the biggest fashion weeks in the region. His designs have been showcased their four times since. Paul is well known for his intricate detailing and quality finishing and his pieces are rather a 

breathtaking expression of art.

SOUP has made a name as the go-to label for exquisite cocktail and

gala dresses in India and around the world. Indian actress, Kareena Kapoor and model, Pooja Chopra have been spotted wearing SOUP and are constantly supporting the brand. This independent designer delights in demure textures and elegant silhouettes meticulously created by such demure and lavish materials as lace, silk georgette, chiffon and dupion.
